According to California State law, beginning June 2009 the Angels Camp Veterinary Hospital, Inc. will no longer dispense prescription medications or administer vaccines to any animal that has not been examined by an ACVH veterinarian within the previous 12 months.
Prior to dispensing Heartworm preventative, we will require that all dogs be annually tested for heartworms as recommended by the American Heartworm Society and according to The standard of practice in veterinary medicine.
There is a $50 fee should you fail to attend an appointment or cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment.
- Vaccination Requirement:
- All dogs and cats presented for any service (including exams, grooming, boarding, drop-off, etc.) must have proof of a current rabies vaccination.
- Proof of Vaccination:
- Acceptable proof includes a rabies certificate or verifiable veterinary records.
- Verbal claims or tags alone are not sufficient documentation.
- Unknown or Expired Vaccination Status:
- If rabies vaccination status is unknown, unverified, or expired, the animal must be vaccinated for rabies during the visit.
- This applies regardless of the age, medical status, or client preference, unless deemed medically contraindicated by the attending veterinarian (e.g., severe immunosuppression, terminal condition).
- Client Refusal:
- If a client refuses rabies vaccination: The animal will not be seen or admitted. The client will be politely informed of our strict rabies safety policy. There are no exceptions.
- Documentation:
- Vaccination status will be recorded in the medical record and the rabies certificate will be issued at the time of vaccination and provided to the client.
